Manika Earrings. Unique Glass Beads with a Story to Tell
I think these might be just your style. They have that lovely mix of colour and character that makes them feel instantly special.
What you’ll notice when you put them on is how light and comfortable they are easy enough to wear all day, but bold enough to catch the eye. They’ve got this vibrant, contemporary look that works as beautifully with a simple shirt as it does when you’re dressed up for the evening. You’ll feel polished but still relaxed, and you’ll have that little spark of knowing there’s a real story behind them.
Each bead is made from recycled glass, known locally as manik-manik, and the process is incredible. Waste glass is ground down, melted, and reshaped into something new, which means no two beads are ever quite the same. The pair you choose will be yours alone.
That story is lovely too. The brass is made by Eko and his team in one village, the glass beads by the men in another, and then the women bead weavers assemble the jewellery. Two communities, working together, and every artisan is paid fairly for their skill. So when you wear these, you’re not just wearing a pair of earrings, you’re carrying a piece of that connection with you.
These earrings are sourced in by one of our trusted Salvessa partners in the UK. They were founded to give small fair trade projects a long term route to market, and now work with artisan groups across the world to create jewellery that blends traditional skill with thoughtful design.
It means you can wear something that feels beautiful and stylish, while knowing it’s been made with care for both people and planet.
